Last year the Free Clinic of Sheridan County was denied in their application for a Community Development Block Grant from the State that would have allowed for the renovation of the Sheridan County Public Health Building to house the Free Clinic. The Free Clinic will be resubmitting a grant application for the same project. Executive Director of the Free Clinic of Sheridan County Cathi Kindt explains how this grant application will differ from last year's original.

Kindt says that the fact that they are running out of room at their current location across from Sheridan Memorial Hospital is just one of the reasons why moving into the Public Health building is a perfect match for both agencies.

The original application that was denied last year was for $491,000. The CDBG grant that the Free Clinic and the County will be applying for this time is $300,000. The County has agreed to commit $212,000 to the project. Of that amount, County staff will be submitting a grant application to the Peter Kiewit Foundation requesting $125,000. Kindt said that they won't find out about the $300,000 grant request through the Wyoming Business Council until early summer.
