A economic development group out of Sheridan went before our local legislators Tuesday at a forum at Sheridan City Hall. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has the story.

During his presentation to legislators, Forward Sheridan Executive Director Jay Stender said that one of the issues that the economic development group continues to work on is commodity transport in the area.

The Bakken that Stender referred to is the Bakken Formation in northwest North Dakota that has emerged as one of the most important sources of oil production in the United States in recent years. While most of the drilling has taken place in North Dakota, the Bakken Formation extends into Montana, and the Canadian Provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
