Flood update for Johnson County for Tuesday

Flood update for Johnson County for Tuesday

Johnson County Incident Command has updated the flood assessment for the county Tuesday. A flash flood watch continues through Wednesday morning at 6am.

The National Weather Service says showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, with a possibility of another 1 to 2 inches of rainfall with these storms.

Heavy rain combined with snowmelt could lead to runoff into high creeks and streams and pose a threat for flooding and flash flooding.

The Middle Fork of Powder River is at flood stage and out of the banks north of the Harold Jarrard Park and at the Harlin property, but currently this is just normal springtime runoff issues.

Clear Creek is at a relatively flat level for today. These watches and warnings will continue to be broadcast until the snow comes off the mountains.
