An artist reception will be held Thursday for 13-year-old Lauren Sarantopulos, recognizing her first solo art show that is on display through September at the Historic Train Depot.

Sonya Caywood, volunteer at the Sagebrush Community Art Center at the depot, tells us why its worth checking out the young artist's work.

Combining performing arts with acrylic painting, Sarantopulos paints on a 4x4 masonite board mounted on a spinning easel, completing paintings in about 5-10 minutes. She has performed in Stars of Tomorrow and at the Celebrate the Arts, among others.

Her show this month is titled Wyoming and Wildlife and Animals From Around the World and is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10-4.

The reception is Thursday from 5-7 pm and is open to the public.
