Firewood Permits For Billy Creek Area Still Being Issued

Although there was a lightning-caused fire in the Billy Creek area over the weekend, it has been contained and mop-up has begun, according to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Buffalo Field Office (BFO).

Firewood permits for the Billy Creek area began being issued by the BFO for the 2012 season last Thursday, July 12th , and are still being issued, according to the BLM BFO.

Permits are $7 per cord, and there is an additional $1.50 road maintenance fee per permit.
Permits must be bought in person at the BFO located at 1425 Fort Street in Buffalo from 8am to 4pm.

All available areas and individual trees will be designated and marked by BLM, and firewood can only be cut in these areas with only those trees marked available for firewood use.
