Firefighters Rescue Victim Trapped in Blaze

Sheridan firefighters rescued a man trapped on the second floor of a burning structure on Fourth Street shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday.

The name of the man hasn't been released, but he was taken by ambulance to Sheridan Memorial Hospital following his rescue.

Greg Luhman, who's a captain with Sheridan Fire and Rescue, said firefighters were called to 306 E. Fourth Street, and the man was taken out through a second floor window.

The structure is a combination business and residence. No one else was in the building, and no firefighters or other emergency personnel were reported injured.

Luhman said five Sheridan Fire and Rescue units responded to the call, including the department's hazmat unit, along with two units from the Goose Valley Volunteer Fire Department, two Rocky Mountain Ambulance units and the Sheridan Police Department. Luhman said the fire was knocked out fairly quickly, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
