Firefighters Host Remembrance Service

The Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department will host a remembrance service Wednesday morning for those lost in the 9-11 terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

All local law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical technicians in addition to the public are invited to the remembrance, which will start at 7:50 a.m. at the Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department on South Scott Street.

The event commemorates the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the crash site in Shanksville, PA.

The service includes the ringing of the bell of the department's LaFrance truck, done at the time that the World Trade Center's South Tower collapsed, and following the release of doves and playing of a bagpipe, those attending are invited to join others in the fire station and share their stories of Sept. 11.

Refreshments will also be provided in the station.
