Fire in Southeast Corner of Yellowstone

Doane Fire
Doane Fire

Lightning from a recent thunderstorm has caused a fire to start in the southeastern section of Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone Public Affairs Director Al Nash says, however, that the fire, named the Doane Fire because it is near Doane Mountain, is under control.

Al adds that allowing some fires to burn plays an important role in maintaining the health of the area's wildlife habitat and vegetation.

He says this is the third fire they have had in the park this year; it appears this is the start of the fire season for Yellowstone.
