Fire Inspector Offers Insight on Bus Barn Fire

Richard Embry, investigator for the State Fire Marshall Office, confirmed preliminary reports that the fire at the Sheridan County School District #1's bus barn started on the end of a building where vehicles were parked.

Embry said arson and criminal activity was quickly ruled out, but the investigation remains complicated, and the cause of the fire is officially listed as undetermined.

Embry wants to put to rest any rumors that the fire was intentionally started.

Investigators are suspicious of electrical problems in one of the three vehicles parked near the structure. According to reports given at the school's district meeting Tuesday, one of the vehicles was used solely to plow the bus barn parking lot, one was used to teach driver's education courses, and one was a personally owned vehicle of a school district employee.
