Sheridan County Commissioners held a brief special meeting Thursday, where upon the recommendation of the Sheridan County Fire Warden and the fire chiefs of the Rural Fire Protection Districts, the commission voted to lift the fire ban that was imposed in late July.

A news release issued by the office of the Board of County Commissioners states that although open burning is now allowed within Sheridan County, the public needs to continue to be aware that there should be burning on Red-Flag Warning Days, or anticipated high wind days. Furthermore, those that intend to conduct an open burn, should always contact the Sheridan Dispatch Center to avoid any unnecessary callouts of the volunteer fire departments.
