A structure fire just off the road at 1716 East Brundage Lane/US 14 sent a column of smoke into the air Friday morning that could be seen over Sheridan.

Goose Valley Fire Chief Bob Williams said a barrel was being used behind a garage to burn garbage when when wind blew leaves and debris out of the barrel into the structure and started the fire.

Goose Valley responded to the fire at about 10:15 and was on scene for about two hours.

There were no injuries. The structure, owned by Keith McWilliams, was a total loss.
