February is ‘Heart Health Month’

February is National Heart Health Month, and we will be featuring a number of guests over the next several weeks on our news talk show Public Pulse who’ll will be discussing various issues pertaining to heart health and heart disease.

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, as every 34 seconds someone suffers a heart attack, and every 60 seconds, someone dies from a heart disease-related event.

There are many factors that put you at risk for heart disease, including poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, high blood pressure and stress to name a few. Health Coach Dr. Erin Nitschke talks about how stress can play a role in heart disease.

Nitschke said that while many people don’t realize it, your daily routine can sometimes be what’s causing the stress.
