Wyoming highway fatalities have exceeded the number from this time in 2009.

Two separate accidents in Wyoming claimed two lives in as many days. Sgt. Stephen Townsend issued a media release on the incidents.

On Sunday, November 28th, 57-year-old Sammie Hill of Riverton, WY died at the scene after a one-vehicle rollover. Hill was the driver of a 2002 Ford F-150 step-side pick-up. Her passenger, 55-year-old Trudi Redman, also of Riverton, is hospitalized at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

Hill was westbound on US 20/26 traveling on an icy roadway with snowfall.  Hill lost control of her vehicle and went across the center line and then off the roadway on the south side in a broadside slide. The pickup then rolled an undetermined number of times when it left the roadway.  The cab of the pickup crushed onto the vehicle occupants during the rollover maneuver. Both women had been wearing seat belts.

Monday morning November 29th, 51-year-old Thomas Clay, a passenger in a 2003 Ford F-350 pick-up died at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. The pick-up was driven by 26-year-old Eric Clay. Roadways were icy and snow-packed at the time of the crash. Clay was on northbound Interstate 25 when he lost control of his vehicle.

The vehicle went into the median in a broadside slide, where it then rolled one time, coming to rest on the southbound median shoulder. During the rollover, both Thomas Clay and 48-year-old Tami Clay were ejected from the cab of the pickup. Neither of them were wearing their seat belt. Eric Clay was wearing his seat belt.

Thomas Clay was seated in the front passenger seat and Tami Clay was seated in the rear passenger seat. Ms. Clay came to rest in the median and Mr. Clay came to rest in the southbound lane of the Interstate.

The two fatalities bring the number of highway deaths to 134. Last year at this same time, Wyoming’s fatality count was at 122.
