Ex-retirement Home Worker Sentenced To Probation

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A former retirement home worker has been
sentenced to probation in the death of a woman whose wheelchair he didn't strap down in his van.
A Natrona County District Court judge sentenced 43-year-old Jeffrey Goltermann on Friday to serve one to five years of supervised probation and pay $2,500 in restitution.
Goltermann pleaded guilty in June to a misdemeanor charge of criminally negligent homicide. Goltermann was picking up 73-year-old Roberta Schelin last October from the Wyoming Medical Center, where she had gone after falling at her home. During the drive, Schelin's wheelchair fell backward, causing her to strike her head. Court documents say an autopsy found she died of injuries from that fall, not the one at her home.
