EPA, DOT Wants 54.5 MPG by 2025.

The Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation are pushing to double gas efficiency requirements for automakers.

According to Sara Chieffo (chief-o), legislative director of the League of Conservation Voters, the new regs will be good for everyone.

The proposed standard that new vehicles should get 54.5 miles per gallon essentially doubles what most vehicles currently get. If this were possible, it would mean gas bills would be cut in half.

The coalition has sponsored the legislation in partnership with the Save Our Environment Action Fund. To see their ad, click here.
