Enzi Speaks Against “Emergency” Appropriations

As the U.S. Senate debates H.R. 4899, the Disaster Relief and Summer Jobs Act of 2010, many remain worried about the federal government's spending habits. The bill that provides $59 billion in supplemental appropriations, and includes money for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, support for Haiti, disaster recovery money for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and additional funds for the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

This week, Wyoming Senator Enzi spoke on the Senate floor, decrying the way most of the spending in the bill was designated as
“emergency spending”

Senator Enzi says some programs under the bill may be considered true

H.R. 4899 appropriates additional funds for the Fiscal Year ending September 30, 2010.
