Energy Company Recognized for Supporting Education

An energy company that operates a coal mine 35 miles north of Sheridan and contributes to the technical programs at the community colleges of both Sheridan and Gillette has been recognized nationally for its commitment to education.

Cloud Peak Energy recently received the Silver Star of Excellence award at the American Technical Education Association's 51st annual conference in St. Paul, Minn. The news is coming from Sheridan College.

Jed Jensen is the dean of career and technical education for the Northern Wyoming Community College District. In the release, he said Cloud Peak Energy's support to the college district has been invaluable. He said their commitment and generosity have propelled their students and programs to new heights.

In addition to the award, the energy company will also be inducted into the National Technical Honor Society Hall of Fame.
