Elementary Students Start In Brand New School

Many of us had Columbus Day off and used the long weekend to relax. That was not true of the employees of Woodland Park Elementary School. They worked through the break to make sure everything was moved from the old school to the brand new facility.

Today, Woodland Park Elementary students are using their new classrooms for the very first time and Principal Janet Marshall is very excited to finally be moved in.

Everyone from the contractor to school district administration and representatives from the Wyoming School Facilities Commission were shocked at the huge turnout for the grand opening ceremonies last night. The gymnasium was packed for the dedication, which included music performed by the Woodland Park Choir, along with remarks from Superintendent Craig Dougherty and Wyoming Secretary of State Max Maxfield.

Attendees were treated to a barbecue prepared by the contractor who built the school. That was followed by self guided tours of the building.

Sheridan County School District #2 has still not made any decision as to the fate of the old Woodland Park School.
