Ed Superintendent Disregards Legislators' Deadline

State lawmakers say the Wyoming Department of Education has missed a deadline to submit a written response to a report detailing numerous failures by the agency on implementing education reforms.

The Wyoming Legislature's Select Committee on Education Accountability had given public instruction Superintendent Cindy Hill until Monday to present the written arguments. The committee had originally given her until Nov. 26, but extended it.

A letter Tuesday by committee co-chairmen Sen. Hank Coe and Matt Teeters said Hill will have 30 minutes to give a verbal response during the panel's meeting next week.

Hill tells the Casper Star-Tribune she never agreed to the deadline for submitting a response. She says a response will be submitted to the committee a couple of days before it meets.
