MCS Strategies held public input workshops in Buffalo Monday night and Kaycee Tuesday to gather information from those communities to add to their report for their final draft of the City/County Joint Economic and Community Development Master Plan.

Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery said the input from business owners and community members alike is important so community leaders know what direction to take in developing a diverse economic base in Buffalo, Kaycee and Johnson County.

Montgomery explains more about the Master Plan.

Business owners were asked how government can help them weather the current down economy and how they can help them grow. Citizens were asked what they thought economic development means and how they felt it could be implemented in each community and how they thought government can help reduce the unemployment rate, which according to reports released this month, Johnson County had the second highest rate in the state, according to Montgomery.

He said the Master Plan will be completed and ready for the three governmental agancies by the end of May.
