Easement Vacation Passes Second Reading

Easement Vacation Passes Second Reading

The Buffalo City Council has passed on second reading Ordinance No. 1396, which will vacate the city easement in the Park Addition of the city.

The easement was held by the city for a possible continuation of Brock Street from South DeSmet west, but the easement has no value to the city as a future street would end at an irrigation canal a block to the west.

Mayor Mike Johnson explained at an earlier meeting that the city had planned to vacate the easement for a number of years, but it had never been formalized by council action.

He gave the details on the easement the city is moving to vacate.

A final reading of the ordinance will be required before the vacation will take effect.
