Driver Identified in 5th Street Train Crash

The driver who plowed through the railroad crossing arm and into a moving train at the 5th Street track crossing has been identified as 27-year-old Pierce Ford of Sheridan.

A media release from the Sheridan Police Department says damages to BNSF Railroad property are estimated to be approximately $10,000, and the 2002 Subaru Outback he was driving is significantly damaged also.

Ford is expected to appear in Circuit court July 9. He was treated at Sheridan Memorial Hospital after the crash at 6:30 Monday morning. He has been cited for driving under the influence and failing to stop at a railroad crossing.
