Domestic Violence Awareness March Planned for Saturday

As part of national domestic violence awareness month, the local Advocacy Resource Center has planned a march against family violence. Rhonda Weber, who is a victim witness coordinator for the center in Sheridan, said the march will be held Saturday in the downtown area. When announcing the march, she talked about the mission of the center.

At the center, she said they help their clients develop a safety plan, which starts with a risk assessment.

As for the march on Saturday, she said anyone can participate. There’s no pre-registration, she said, people just need to meet at the county courthouse parking area on Main Street at 9 o’clock and they’ll walk from there about five blocks north to Grinnell Plaza, then stop there for a brief program and refreshments. She said she hopes everyone comes dressed in purple, which is the color designated to bring awareness to domestic violence.
