Domestic Dispute Ends in Fatality

A media release from Detective Lt. Chris Dahmke at the Sheridan Police Department indicates that at approximately 7:55 p.m. on Monday, July 4th after responding to a domestic disturbance on the 100 block of west Nebraska Street, a 23-year-old male was shot by police after an altercation.

The man was transported by ambulance to Sheridan Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Dahmke reports that in the course of responding to the scene, one of the officers was stabbed in the arm by the man and police shot him. The police officer was treated for his wounds at Sheridan Memorial Hospital and later released.

The name of the deceased is pending upon notification of all family. The case has been handed over to Sheridan County Attorney Matt Redle. The Department of Criminal Investigation is handling gathering more information regarding the incident.
