Dog and Cat Shelter Rabies Clinic Just Around the Corner

The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter will hold their annual Rabies Clinic in Kendrick Park from June 6-10. Each day rabies shots will be administered by a veterinarian from 8am-1pm and each dog or cat will cost $10. Rabies is a fatal disease that can be transmitted to any warm blooded animal, humans included, and Sheridan County has already seen several skunks test positive.

Pet owners should have their pet vaccinated every three years. Once the pet has their first shot, they will need another the next year and then they will only need to get one every three years. The rabies vaccination standards are determined by the state as rabies is a public health concern. All animals must be accompanied by a responsible person of at least 18 years of age and the animals should be in a carrier or on a leash at all times.
