District 1 Trustees Refine Strategic Plan

Trustees of Sheridan County School District 1 are in the process of refining a new strategic plan for the district following two nights of meetings at the high schools in Big Horn and Dayton.

District Superintendent Marty Kobza said part of that plan is that, over the next few years, the school board wants to develop a consistent and simplified grading and reporting system.

Another part of the plan is to make sure the students' needs are met, including physically and emotionally. He said the plan includes making sure that the district continues to refine its professional learning communities model. He said another part of the plan deals with technology.

He said another issue important to trustees is how to continue to develop community involvement.

Also important to the district, he said, is to look for as many funding sources as it can, including grants, donations and funding sources such as BOCES and BOCHES.

He said those goals form the framework. Kobza said at this point, he expects the board to flesh out the input received at this week's meetings, then start work on specific goals for the years ahead.
