Design Phase Continuing For JCHC 2018 Project

At their last meeting the Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees were updated on the design of the 2018 project by Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward.

Ward said the design phase is continuing to move forward with CTA Architects holding meetings at the facility to implement those ideas into the designs in the kitchen areas of the proposed new nursing home and discussing the effects of those designs on the current kitchen in the hospital.

So far the plan is to have the hospital's kitchen supply meals, but still have a minimal kitchen in the nursing home. The hospital's laundry facilities will be used for the nursing home as well, he said.

Ward said the design phase is proceeding on schedule.

Some civil engineering work on the project has been bid out, he said, with surveying being awarded to Nelson Engineering of Buffalo.

The proposed 2018 project, if approved, will replace the aging Amie Holt Care Center and the oldest portions of the hospital with a new modern wing. Planning will continue with a final decision expected to come in 2014.
