The Wyoming Department of Health has issued an alert to Wyoming residents who may have recently traveled to western South Dakota about a Hepatitis A case associated with a local pizza restaurant. According to the South Dakota Department of Health, a food handler at the Pizza Works restaurant in Custer, South Dakota was confirmed to have Hepatitis A.

Wyoming State Epidemiologist Dr. Tracy Murphy with the Department of Health said that anyone who ate at the restaurant between June 19 and July 5 should contact their healthcare provider as soon as possible.

The reason for the alert Dr. Murphy said is because of the high number of Wyoming residents in the northeast part of the state who travel and recreate in western South Dakota.

Individuals who believe they may have been exposed at the restaurant and have questions can contact the Department of Health at 1-877-996-9000.
