Defendant In Kidnapping Case To Undergo Mental Evaluation

A 48-year-old Montana man appeared before 4th Judicial District Court Judge John Fenn yesterday at his arraignment. Kevin Fuller is charged with Kidnapping and he pled not-guilty by reason of mental illness or deficiency.

Last month Fuller was arrested at the Maverick gas station on Brundage Lane. He is accused of kidnapping a woman and then threatening her with a knife to have sex. The woman agreed as long as he would buy her cigarettes. When they stopped to purchase them, she attempted her escape.

Fuller will now undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the State Hospital in Evanston to determine whether or not he is fit to stand trial. It is unclear how long that evaluation will take. If convicted Fuller faces up to 20 years in prison. No trial date has been scheduled pending the outcome of the evaluation.
