CTG’s “The Father” Offers Glimpse at Life with Dementia

On Friday, the Sheridan Civic Theater Guild will present their next show “The Father” for the first time. This work gives the audience insight into what it is like to be diagnosed with or be a family member of someone who has dementia. Director Gene Davis provides an overview of the play that deals with some tough subject matter.

Davis said the play was chosen partially because of his and many of the cast members personal experience with the disease. Dimitra(di-me-tra) Dugal (Doo-gal), who plays Anne the daughter of the titular dementia diagnosed father, explains why there is a need to talk about the subject.

According to Dementia Friendly Wyoming, there are 5.4 million people nationwide currently living with Alzheimer’s but that figure is estimated to triple to 16 million and will affect 50% of families within the next 10 years. “The Father” will show at Sheridan's Carriage House Theater for the next three weeks.
