Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery has applied for a number of grants to refurbish and beautify Crazy Woman Square in downtown Buffalo, and the decision on the first grant should come Thursday at the Wyoming Business Council meeting in Cheyenne.

Montgomery and Mayor Randy Dyess will be heading to Cheyenne Thursday to attend the meeting, to give a presentation or answer questions if needed.

Montgomery explains further.

This grant is for the Crazy Woman Square Business Ready Community Downtown Grant in the amount of $500,000. If the grant is approved by the WBC, then it, along with all other grants in the state that are approved, will be sent on to the SLIB, the State Lands and Investments Board, for final approval.

The SLIB will approve those applications January 19, 2012. If the Crazy Woman Square grant is approved, Montgomery said the city and county will be going after an enhancement grant, which with both grants and the city/county match, will fund the entire Crazy Woman Square project entirely.
