The Wyoming Highway Patrol has confirmed that three people were killed and at least three others injured in a crash involving eight vehicles Wednesday morning at 7:30 about 10 miles south of Gillette on state Highway 59, which was previously released incorrectly by the patrol as U.S. Highway 59.

WYDOT Region 4 Public Involvement Specialist Ronda Holwell explains the events that led to the multi-vehicle crash.

A media release from the Highway Patrol states that the names of the injured and deceased have not been released and won’t be until next of kin have been notified. Charges have not yet been filed and likely will not be until the investigation is completed, which may take several days.
