Court Cases Prompt Reminder from Sheridan's Regional Game & Fish Office

The three Wyoming Game & Fish false oath cases in Circuit Court Monday morning prompted Judge John Sampson to comment that he's seen more such cases this season alone than in all the years he's been on the bench. Warren Mischke is the Public Information Specialist with the Wyoming Game & Fish Regional Office in Sheridan. He reminds us the seriousness of claiming residency when registering for a hunting license.

Mishcke comments on the number one reason hunters are willing to risk claiming false oath on a registration.

Even though there have been several cases go before Judge Sampson on the residency issue this hunting season, overall, Mischke says that compliance has generally been very good, thanks in large part to the public cooperating and reporting suspected violations.

If you are new to the state and are uncertain of the residency regulations for hunting and fishing, we have posted the contact information for the Regional Game & Fish office on our website,
