County School District 1 Receives 'Great Report' from State

Recently released school performance reports from the state of Wyoming presented a “great report” for Sheridan County School District 1.

Pete Kilbride, who's superintendent of the school district, said for the first time that he can remember, every one of the District 1 schools in Big Horn, Ranchester and Dayton were meeting or exceeding expectations across the board.

Jilian Balow, who's Wyoming's superintendent of public instruction, said for the second year, the statewide school performance report for the 2018-19 school year included requirements for both the state and federal accountability systems.

Kilbride said the report, required by the Wyoming Accountability in Education Act, measures students' growth, equity and achievement based on their proficiency scores.

Proficiency is based on the statewide WYTOPP test, and Kilbride said all of the district's schools met or exceeded expectations on that test as well.
