County Revising Regulations At Mikesell-Potts Area

The Mikesell-Potts Recreation Area at Lake DeSmet will be getting revised regulations in the coming months, after the Johnson County Commission approved them to be advertised for public review.

County Road and Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer said that his department, Johnson County Sheriff Steve Kozisek, County Deputy Attorney Barry Crago and Commissioner Linda Greenough all reviewed the regulations, discussed them and recommended the changes that are now being advertised.

He explained why the regulations needed revisions.

The regulations are scheduled to be advertised in the local newspaper and allow for a 45-day comment period. Comments will be collected and revisions to the regulations may happen before they come back before the commissioners for their approval.

Once approved, new signage at the recreation area, if needed, will be ordered and installed reflecting the regulation changes.
