County Recommends Katherman For WPLI Seat

Johnson County's Commissioners discussed and then approved a recommendation for a new appointment to a seat on the Wyoming Public Lands Initiative Committee for Johnson County, overseeing two separate Wilderness Study Areas near Kaycee.

Commission Chair Bill Novotny explained during their recent meeting why the appointment was necessary.

The commissioners voted to recommend Maria Katherman for appointment to the committee, which will now discuss and decide on the recommendation.

According to the the Wyoming County Commissioners Association website, the core goal of the WPLI is to develop a locally-led, Wyoming-specific, legislative lands package to address designation, release, or other management for Wilderness Study Areas (WSAs) in Wyoming. The WPLI is a voluntary project initiated and led at the county level that will culminate in legislation forwarded to Wyoming’s Congressional delegation.
