Johnson County will be paying half of the limited liability insurance premiums for the Mountain Plains Heritage Park, after they approved a request from the park's Joint Powers Board to the commission.

The Joint Powers Board asked the county to pay half of their liability insurance, and will likely ask the City of Buffalo to pay the other half.

Commission Chair Bill Novotny explained the situation further at the commission's last regular meeting, saying the joint powers board's limited liability insurance premiums typically run about $250 a year, and they generally approach the county and city to help with those expenses.

Novotny said the commissioners had budgeted for the insurance expense, but a formal motion was needed to get the premium paid.

The commissioners approved paying half of the premium unanimously.
