Johnson County's Commissioners discussed a Snow Removal Policy for county roads, at the request of Road and Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer.

Pegringer said adopting an official policy has been a goal of his for a couple of years, and it is now ready for review and adoption.

He explained to the commissioners that the priorities for plowing county roads has always been school bus routes first, then oiled roads, mail routes, and then gravel roads after at least four inches of snow has fallen on them.

Cheryl Benner, also with Road and Bridge, said these are the policies the department follwed anyway, but they are now in writing so the public can see and understand them.

Pehringer said there is a change to the policy that was implemented out of necessity.

The commissioners voted to adopt the Snow Removal Policy.
