Sheridan County residents had a chance to look at proposed changes to the county's comprehensive plan Monday night during an open house at the Watt Agricultural Center.

Among them was Ranchester Mayor Peter Clark, who said he was there both as a member of the citizens advisory committee responsible for reviewing and commenting on the draft plan and as Ranchester's mayor.

Clark said his big concern for Ranchester was the subdivisions around the town. He said he wants to be sure that Ranchester's growth isn't blocked by subdivisions that don't meet the town's standards.

Sheridan land broker Charlie Powers said he was at the open house because he has properties in the area for sale and he wants to be as informed as possible on the county plan.

He said the plan looks as though a lot of work has been put into it.

Feedback from people who attended workshops in December has been incorporated into the plan update, and those attending Monday's open house were invited to place colored pins on a large county map to indicate where they thought residential, commercial and industrial uses should be.

The displays at Monday's open house will also be on hand at the June 20 Third Thursday event in downtown Sheridan for additional review and comments, and a survey is posted on the project website online.
