County Commissioners Receive Early Budget Picture

The Sheridan County Commissioners met with County Administrator Renee Obermueller Wednesday to get an early picture of how this year's budget is shaping up. The reality is that on top of last year's 8% reduction in revenues, the County could be facing an additional 15% reduction for the upcoming fiscal year. County Commissioner Steve Maier says that they have some reserves for this year but that the following year is where things could be bleak.

Maier said that the Commissioner's will most likely use $2 million of that reserve this year, and that the $1 million leftover will be used for the following year. Maier stated that they will continue to meet with staff regarding the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Hopefully they realize this economy is also hurting the taxpayers and won't increase/add taxes to us in order to keep their pet projects going.
