The Johnson County Commissioners have approved a request from Chairman Bill Novotny to allow him and Buffalo Mayor Mike Johnson to draft a letter supporting Buffalo's Veterans Home of Wyoming as the state's choice for a proposed veterans skilled nursing facility.

The size of the proposed facility will be determined during the Level One and Level Two feasibility Studies, according to Novotny, and the number would fall under the amount allowed by the Federal government, including the existing beds at the veterans home.
The initial thought was for a facility with anywhere from 9 to 12 beds.

Novotny also said he has had ongoing discussions with Nicole Hobbs, CEO of the Johnson County Healthcare Center, who had concerns about housing the facility in Buffalo.

Novotny said they continue to work toward an agreement in the matter.
