County, City Join Forces for Economic Development

At the Johnson County Commission meeting last Tuesday, Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery and County Planner Rob Yingling presented an agreement to the commission drafted between the two entities to jointly apply for state and Federal funding for economic development in Buffalo and Johnson County.

Both planners have drafted the plan to specifically go after a Community Development Block Grant of $50,000, which will require a $5,000 match from both the city and county. Other funding will be available in the future, Montgomery said, if the entities apply for it jointly, which made the joint agreement a necessity.

Commissioner Delbert Eitel suggested the Town of Kaycee should be involved as well, and Montgomery explained Kaycee was already involved, just not financially.

Montgomery said any economic development projects the Town of Kaycee would like to go after funding for would be sponsored by the City of Buffalo to the State or Federal Governments.
