26-year-old Tonya J. Roberson of Kansas and 29-year-old Nathan Kelly Matthews of Texas were arrested early Saturday on counterfeiting charges.

Counterfeit US currency began showing up in Sheridan on May 8th, with at least four occurrences in the past week. Sheridan Police Detective Sgt. Tom Henry explains what happened next.

In the motel, officers found counterfeiting materials. Henry says the suspects were not immediately located at the motel, but were found a short time later at a local Sheridan County Liquor business.

Henry contacted US Secret Service Agent Rick Near, who came to Sheridan to assist in the investigation and search. The suspect vehicle was seized and is currently being searched by Sheridan Police.

Henry describes the counterfeit bills that were circulated.

Sgt. Henry says that if you have received what you suspect may be counterfeit bills, to please call the Sheridan Police Department at 672-2413 Ext. 119
