Council Presented With Annual Sheridan Police Department Report

During a work session Monday, the Sheridan City Council were presented with the 2012 Sheridan Police Department Report, courtesy of Chief Richard Adriaens. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has the details.

During his presentation about traffic stops, Chief Adriaens stated that there was a significant drop in the number of personal injury accidents, as the 32 that occurred in 2012 is a reduction of 40 percent from the previous year. Chief Adriaens stated that seat belt use was the biggest contributing factor.

Adriaens explains what led to the number of DUI citations being down 28 percent.

Working with the local liquor dealers and taxi service, the Sheridan Police Department initiated the Tipsy Taxi program, where through a Safe Communities grant and significant contributions from the Sheridan County Liquor Dealers Association, free rides home are offered to intoxicated individuals.
