Council Approves Water Agreement With Whitney Benefits

14 years ago, the City of Sheridan and Whitney Benefits entered into a water agreement for the purpose of allowing the City to utilize/lease, at no cost to the City, up to 143 shares of Whitney Benefits water in Park Reservoir.

In exchange for the lease rights, the water is used for irrigation of community recreational properties, good and charitable purposes, and for serving Whitney owned properties at no cost to Whitney or the recipient of the water. The City Council Monday night approved an updated agreement between both sides that will be for a term of 10 years. City Utilities Director Dan Roberts.

Previous to the 10 year agreement that was approved Monday night, the City and Whitney traditionally operated under terms of a 2 to 3 year water agreement.
