City Considers Curbside Recycling Costs

Posted in

We reported this week that the City of Sheridan may implement a city-wide curbside recycling program. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has more on the story.

City staff intend to bring a resolution before the City Council in the next couple of months that would establish curbside recycling in the city at a rate of $3 a month per residential customer. City Public Works Director Nic Bateson presented the proposal at a council work session earlier this week.

As far as the price tag for making curbside recycling a reality in Sheridan?

Bateson said that the City's return on investment and ultimate success of the program hinges on the public's participation.

Bateson said that staff will present the proposal and business plan to the council for consideration at their last meeting in February or first meeting in March. We'll wrap-up our recycling series Friday with a look at the benefits recycling has on the City Landfill.
