This weekend's cold and rainy wether was perfect for eating chili, and holding a chili contest, according to Lois Yoakum, Public Relations and Marketing Director for the Buffalo Senior Center.

The 5th annual Buffalo Senior Center Chili Cook-off was Saturday, and although the weather was cold and wet, many participants brought their own chili recipes down to Washington Park in Buffalo for the contest, and a good number of people stopped to sample them and vote for their favorites.

Yoakum said the chili cook-off is a good way for people to get together to visit and enjoy some good company and to have a friendly contest “just for fun” and a little spending money.

The top three chili recipes were awarded $50 for first place, $30 for second, and $20 for third place.

The winning chili cooks, as chosen by those attending the event, were Vicky Gearhart with her “Creamy White Chili.”
Second place went to Jim Rossow and his “Jim's Hots Chili.”
And third place went to Jim Heath and his “Super Bowl Chili.”
