The Sheridan City Council convened for a special session Friday afternoon for Constitution Day as Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey proclaimed September, 17th through the 23rd as National Constitution Week. At 3 o'clock the bell in front of Sheridan City Hall rang three times to commemorate the exact time the United States Constitution was enacted 223 years ago. Sheridan Chapter Regent Peggy Terry with the Daughters of the American Revolution says gives us a brief explanation of why the Constitution is so important.

Terry explains the history behind National Constitution Week.

Terry said that since it is National Constitution Week, everyone should take some time to sit down and read some of the Constitution, even if it's only for a few minutes.
