Conservation Group Protests Wyoming Mine Development

A conservationist group has filed a federal lawsuit to stop development of three Wyoming coal mines on the grounds that no public notice was given prior to governmental approval.

The Billings Gazette reports the WildEarth Guardians have listed the Cordero Rojo mine, south of Gilette, and the School Creek and Black Thunder mines southeast of Wright among a total of seven mining projects that lack public transparency. The lawsuit asks the federal government to void the already-granted governmental approval for these projects.
