Congresswoman Lummis Talks Farm Bill

When the United States Congress adjourned for their five-week summer recess earlier this month, they did so without passing a new farm bill. The current farm bill expires at the end of this year, which has some farmers concerned that the farm bill won't be passed until after this year's Presidential Election. U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis explains that the reason for not having the farm bill in place prior to the recess is anything but simple.

Lummis says that the complexity of the farm bill also played a role in the legislation not being passed before the break.

Only about 15 to 20 percent of the money in the farm bill is allocated to farmers.
